One of her favorites!
I personally cannot stand the Barbie movies, but my daughter (4 years old) loves this one. They all do convey a girl power feeling and she cannot wait till each one comes out!
This is one of her favorites, and I have watched it beginning to end and I will say its really cute!

a little toxic (Get the Arthur Quiller Couch book instead)
Why are the characters drawn to look like they've had the bridge of their noses cosmetically narrowed? The faces look really weird and the arms look overly long even though the unfashionable half sleeves on the princess dresses should visually shorten the arms. I'm pretty surprised by the number of positive reviews. This Barbie story is a bit worse than mindless entertaining. I was looking for something pretty and sweet instead I find a soap opera about conniving adults, frivolous American-style dialogue with that tang of rudeness that replaces wit in American script writing, a weird too close to the family service provider (he'd be the UNSUB if this was an episode of Criminal Minds) which is not good if you are trying to teach kids to not be susceptible to friendly strangers and a very strange approach about oversized families. It's just a very weird way to sell 12+ dolls who are mostly differentiated by the color of their interchangeable outfits. I was expecting a lot more from the music and the choreography but I have a much better idea about ballet cartoons for little girls. I really wanted this to be a good cartoon even though it is from Barbie even if it was just about prettiness. It didn't have to have a big message or lesson but I can't buy something that contains negative messages and this cartoon definitely is problematic. Check around on the internet for clips of this cartoon before adding this to your cart.

Barbie - Dancing again!!
My 3yr & 6 yr old grand daughters love this movie - as most of the Barbie movies. I feel the movie has met it's expectations when little girls get up and dance & sing and enjoy the movie. the music is nice, calm, the dance steps easy to watch & follow. If you don't care for Barbie, no amount of reviews will make you change your mind. But if your little girls like singing, dancing, colorful images, this is another movie to add to your collection. Life is short; get your popcorn & lemonade and take time for the little ones.

Daughter loves it
My daughter loves this! I am amazed that Mattel is actually able to create stories that aren't just cookie-cutter stuff and make some unique and interesting story lines that hold children's interest.

Not if you want to sleep at night....
I purchased this movie for my little 6 year old and she had nightmares for a long time after. The premise of this movie is that the princesses have to escape the cruelty of their soon to be step mother and go to a magical land where they are free to dance all night. This movie is especially disheartening and scary to children who have a sick parent as the father is in this movie. The evil mother attempts to poison the father so she can gain control of the kingdom. This does not sound like something a 5-9 year old should be watching. I have since tapped into the Holly Hobbie dvd's and my 8 year old loves them and I love the solid family values and great role model that Holly is. The "Holly Hobbie and Friends: Christmas Wishes" is a must have for every little girl. Hope this helps - good luck!
