Beautiful Doll
This doll is a wonderful collector's item! Since it's a 50th edition of the Barbie Doll, I got it for my daughter. She loves it! I would recommend the doll if you're a collector, or just want that one pretty, well made doll.

Great collector's item
I buy these holiday Barbie's for my daughter every year for Christmas. We collect them and keep them in the boxes. They are very pretty but are always very expensive. I will say that Amazon usually has the best prices on this item. I would recommend this item to play with or to collect.

Very pretty! But....
I have been a Barbie Collector most of my life, so needless to say, I am very pleased to have this doll. However there are few things left to be desired. In the promotional pictures for this Barbie, her dress seems to be "fluffy" and a lovely light shade of pink, but the actual product (which sometimes is different from promotional ads for Barbies, which use the prototype doll) has a sheer crinoline material over a much darker, heavy, pink lame-like fabric, which mostly reflects golden hues and not the pink seen in the ad. I do wonder if different lighting causes the overall reflection from this fabric to appear more pink. The overall dress is very lovely however with the golden lame-like sash tied in a dramatic oversized bow in the back. Barbie's unusally long earrings of multiple clear and pink beads are a lovely accent against her beautiful, long platinum blonde hair, which is parted at the side of her bangs and pulled back, displaying her lovely face with mauve lipstick, blue eyes, and a cute button nose. However, her eye makeup is MUCH too dark and gives her the appearance of "raccoon eyes", which does not compliment her dress and lipstick, because her eyelids are painted with very dark brown with dark brown paint under the lower eyelid as well. The lashes are painted black. The only nice eye makeup she has is the pink color painted on her upper eye bone up to the eyebrows, which are too long and painted in brown. Barbie's tiny fingernais are painted with dark pink.

Another thing I must mention is the quality of the plastic Barbie is made of. I have noticed that newer Barbie dolls are made of a very lightweight plastic and are not as weighty as they used to be. Most likely, this is an effort by Mattel to save costs by using a cheaper plastic material, and it is very noticeable in this particular doll because you can clearly see her shoulders, arms neck and chest areas since this dress is sleeveless. I suppose this change might not be an issue if you never remove your dolls from their boxes, but if you do hold them, you might be dissappointed with the quality. It is not much better than the plastic of other generic-branded fashion dolls in drug and toy stores. Also, this doll does have one arm permanently bent to appear that she is posing with her hand at her waist, which could be awkward-looking if you want to pose her in some other position. Overall, she is a lovely doll, but as you can see, there are some dissapointing issues with her. The packaging is mostly of clear plastic and while it's nice in that is allows you to see the doll clearly, it is more prone to showing shelf wear. Also, there is no ornament and the only other accessory included is her doll stand.

I think I will enjoy the 2010 Holiday Barbie even more than this one because her dress, hair, makeup and head mold are a return to a MUCH more traditional-looking Barbie! I hope Mattel will continue with that trend!

Pretty in Pink
I got this Barbie at Kmart a couple weeks ago, and It's a good thing I went when I did, because they only had three left in stock, and she was on clearence. I paid $34 for this doll, and she's still in her box. I prefer to keep the Collector Barbies in their boxes. I love her dress, it's well designed, and the detail is amazing. She doesn't have rooted lashes like the Holiday 2008 Barbie, but Her eye make-up is still beautiful. She's displayed on my desk with my Holiday 2008 Barbie, and my Generations of Dreams Barbie. She is part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of Barbie, so she is a must have for your collection. The 2010 Holiday Barbie is coming out later this year, so the price on the 2009 Holiday Barbie may go down on Amazon, because the demand won't be a big as it will be for the 2010 Holiday Barbie when she comes out. I would have waited, but I just had to have her in my collection now.

(I'm straight by the way. I don't play with Barbie. I just collect them because I appreciate her beauty and the work Mattel puts into her. And I plan on passing my collection down to my daugher, if I am blessed with one in the future, and to show her the value of collecting.)

I recomend this product for your collection. She's a 50th Anniversary doll!
